Mangroves: By Kena

L.I-W.A.L.T-write a report.
Success Criteria: I am successful when I can write a report about Mangroves.

Mangroves have green leaves.They grow long roots. Their trunks are brown.Mangroves are tall trees that grow in salty water.
They also grow in muddy places.Mangroves can also grow in swamps.They grow in quite places.

Crabs ,small fish ,eels and shell fish can be found under the roots of the mangroves. 
The roots hold the soil when the sea is rough. The wood of the mangroves can be made into a walking stick for people who can't walk.The lichen that hangs from the mangroves can be boiled make a green die.

Maui dolphins-By Kena.

Success Criteria:I am successful when I can write a report about Maui dolphins.

Maui dolphins are endangered.

Maui dolphins have dorsal fins on the left  and right side of their body.They have a round dorsal fin on their back. The colour of the Maui dolphins are grey with white and black markings. They have short snout.

Maui dolphins use their long tail to move around.They use their fins to help them balance. Maui dolphin's flippers help them to swim.
Maui dolphins eat small fish, squid, and flatfish. 
Female Maui dolphins have their babies  when they are 7 to 9 years old. They are the smallest kind of dolphins. Maui dolphins are found off the west coast of the North Island.

Maui dolphins are fast mammals.

Success Criteria:I know I am successful when I can write a report about sharks.

Sharks are fish.They are cold blooded.

Sharks are kinds of fish.  They have a skeleton made out of cartilage, a soft bone found in human ears and nose. 

 Some sharks eat sea lions, seals, turtles, and other fishes. They eat other sharks in the ocean.Some sharks eat crabs, and squid.A group of sharks will attack whales to eat. 

Some sharks skin is grey on the top and white on the tummy. Some sharks skin is brown.Sharks have sharp teeth and black eyes. Some sharks are small, some are big. 

Some sharks can be found in fresh water like lake and river..They can also be found in the warm or cold water. 

Female sharks fertilized their eggs.Most sharks give birth to their young.Sharks move their body from side to side.They use they tail to move in the water.Sharks use their fins to balance in the water.

Whales are mammals and are warm blooded.

 Whales are the largest animals in the world.Some whales don't have teeth, but some do. They have a fish like shape.Some whales are grey and some are blue and some are white. Whales have very big tails.To breathe,whales have a blowhole on top of their head when their head  reaches  the surface.They take air though the blowhole.

The whales use their flippers to move around.Their big large tails help them to swim. Their flukes help them move in the water.Their dorsal fin helps them to swim.

Whales live in the ocean.They can survive in cold or warm water.Whales are found swimming in Eastern Pacific Ocean.Whales can also be found travelling all the major oceans.
